Wire EDM cuts conductive material using a controlled electrical spark along a thin brass wire. There is no cutting force — nothing pushes on the workpiece, nothing deflects, nothing leaves a corner radius. Our CHMER G32S wire EDM holds ±0.0002" tolerance on features that cannot be produced any other way: tight-tolerance keyways and splines, precision slots in hardened steel, complex 2D profiles with internal sharp corners, and precision splitting operations where as little as 0.020" of material is removed. Hardness is irrelevant to the process — we cut hardened tool steel, carbide, and exotic alloys just as cleanly as soft stock.

Wire EDM cuts any electrically conductive material — steel, stainless, nickel alloys, carbide, copper, and all tool steels. Hardness has no effect on cut quality. Kerf width is approximately 0.020". Tolerances to ±0.0002" are routinely achievable because there is no cutting force to deflect the workpiece.
